The Haines Security on-site supervisor was kind enough to attend the June Lake Committee meeting to facilitate discussion between our two groups and work towards a compliance/enforcement partnership. The Lake Patrol is now following flexible hours and may be out patrolling anytime of day, both weekdays and weekends. Should they observe a violation either from the Lake Patrol Boat or from land, they may either provide a warning or issue a citation, which is forwarded to the office for processing. The office then notifies the registered boat owner of the citation and a fine is issued. The resident can choose to pay their fine or attend the Compliance Committee Meeting if they disagree with the citation. Below you will find a listing of 2016/2017 Lake Patrol Enforcement Actions:
2016: Approximately 60 total Enforcement Actions initiated with a listing of the four (4) largest categories.
- Unregistered boats
- Violation of a No Wake Area
- No or improper use of Orange Flag
- Use of another person’s slip
2017: Approximately 50 total Enforcement Actions initiated with a listing of the four (4) largest categories.
- Unregistered boats
- Boating Unsafely
- Violation of a No Wake Area
- No or improper use of Orange Flag
The Lake Committee would like to remind everyone about the importance of following the lake rules which are in place to ensure a safe experience for all who use the lake.
