The Covid-19 virus continues to disrupt our daily routines and I would like to thank all those in the Lake Holiday community that are still mindful of the mandates set by Va. Gov. Northam. Effective Friday, May 22nd, the LH beaches and campground will reopen following the Governor’s #61 proclamation.
The LH community mulch giveaway on Saturday May 16th went well. Pickup trucks and flatbed trailers lined up to be loaded, with several returning for a second fill-up. Maintenance reported 130 scoops were loaded and several community residents loaded 5-gallon buckets of mulch into the trunk of their car. There will be another mulch giveaway on Saturday, May 30th.
Early morning vehicle vandalism and mischief became an issue last week within our community. The County Sheriff’s Department is investigating possible perpetrators in the on-going case.
At the next regular Board of Directors meeting on May 26th, discussion will be held on when to reopen the Clubhouse following any Va. Governor’s updates. Director Coates has supplied staff with guide lines for use of the Fitness Center when it is reopened. Plans for the 4th of July holiday fireworks are still in question.
Price quotes are coming in on the construction of a dog park off Country Club Rd. (Fencing and installation are running between $29-30,000.) All LH projects for the coming years are being reevaluated by MPC.
Annual plantings and aesthetics around the Gatehouse and Clubhouse are underway by community volunteers. The area at the entrance stone wall will also be updated.
During this pandemic, the posting of yard signs announcing student graduations became an issue. The LH Deeds of Dedication does not allow yard signs anywhere within the community except in LH sections 7 and 10. The Board does not have the authority to disregard the documents without following a lengthy process.
As the boating season opens, Lake Patrol will begin Memorial Day weekend. Lake water quality sampling has started. As in the past, any adverse findings will be posted on the community website.
Speed bumps are scheduled to be installed this week and next. Mike will send out notice of locations.
