Lake Ice Safety – let’s avoid a tragedy
As winter sets in each year, we see and hear reports from very concerned residents about individuals, including children, wandering out on the ice over the lake. We cannot stress enough how dangerous and deadly this activity can potentially be and none of us wants to bear witness to such a tragedy.
We urge adults and children alike to please not wander out onto the lake where it has frozen over. There are many areas throughout the lakeside where it gets very steep not far off of the shore, and one wrong step can have catastrophic effects for those daring to wander out onto the ice.
Parents, please take a moment to speak with your children about these dangers and implore them to resist the urge to walk on top of the ice on the lake.
