Robert Adams, one of the Board Directors who had just been elected to a three year term this year, has resigned from the Board. He used to own a house in Lake Holiday, sold it a couple of years ago and purchased a membership lot. He has sold that lot and purchased property outside of Lake Holiday. I want to thank him for his volunteer service to our community.
Since the Board will be going down to nine directors for 2023, it was decided to leave the vacated position open. At the October annual meeting, there will be three open positions from directors who will have completed their three year terms.
Proposals for renting the snack shop space and providing a seasonal amenity to the community were due and received by the end of February. The Board voted to invite Purple Cow to open up in Lake Holiday. This business already has several locations including Stephens City, Lake Anna, Culpeper and a recently opened shop with a purple roof on Route 11, Valley Avenue, in Winchester (where Rita’s used to be). More information will be provided once the contract is executed.
Please remember that the security service is only contracted to provide service to the association common areas. For security issues at your residence and animal control issues, please call 911 and speak to the sheriff’s department. There is only one person at the gate off season and they are not permitted to leave the gate house for any reason. If the roving patrol is on duty, and their hours vary on a daily basis, they will be patrolling common areas and issuing citations for speeding, stop sign violations and improperly parked vehicles and trailers. After Memorial Day there will be a walking security patrol at the clubhouse/beach area and lake patrol. On weekends there will be an additional gate guard due to the high volume of traffic.
The property address database that is provided on the website is several years out of date. Nothing has been added or subtracted. It is also not password protected. Internal protected databases are used for boat registration and Capsure and this database is not needed for any other purpose. This database will be removed from the website.
We have started up the Lake Holiday Facebook page. The office and directors can post outgoing entries as another way to help keep the membership informed.
Further improvements will be made to the dog park. Pebbles will be installed inside near the gate to handle the mud that accumulates there after rain. Aeration, fertilizer and re-seeding of the rest of the dog park will occur in the spring and fall. The dog park will not be closed during this process! Two attractive, 14ft by 12 ft cedar pavilions with aluminum roofs will be installed for shade . One will be inside the dog park and one outside closer to the walking trail.
There have been complaints about ATVs on the former golf course (Country Club Park) and on gravel and dirt roads in the forest. ATVs are not permitted on common areas in Lake Holiday which includes these areas and our roads. Frederick County does not permit ATVs on roads. The association does not want ATVs damaging the walking trails on the former golf course that your assessments have paid for and maintain. If someone was hurt on an ATV or by an ATV, there would be liability to the association. Your insurance costs would rise and your assessments pay for that as well. If you see someone illegally using an ATV on common area, take a picture if you can and report the incident to the office.
